A Mystery

Here we have begun to take out the cabinet that was in the kitchen and dining room to make room for the refrigerator.

The above photo shows the main floor bathroom ceiling lowered to accomadate the drain pipes from upstairs and the venting for the kitchen range.

Upstairs we have taken out the closet in Isabelles room.  This will be a very nice size bedroom which will have a lot of natural light.

A photo of the tub in the upstairs bath number two.

Here is a shot of the front bed with a pear tree in full bloom, and yes, still lots of weeds.

We did manage to clean out the rhubarb patch.

And here is the mystery.....we found these eyes painted on the interior walls after removing the cabinet and the wall paper.  Hmmm...someone had a sense of humor!

Garden & Plumbing

For those of you who may be interested in the yard, here are a couple photos of the flower beds I have been weeding.  The former owner was a wonderful gardener and has left me with lovely perenial plants and masses of bulbs.  The beds had been neglected for a few years but the soil had been so well ammended that the weeds were not too difficult to pull out. That said, it still is a lot of bending and pulling and I'm not half finished yet!  The flowering shrub is a beautiful flowering quince of a coral/pink shade.

In this bed, as in most of them, you can just see the reddish stems of peonies coming up.

Here is the view from the kitchen door.

Back to plumbing, here Jake has put in the Pex hot and cold water lines in the downstairs bath. The Pex is made out of flexable plastic pipe.

Here in the below photo is the cast iron drain pipe going down the wall from the upstairs bath. The cast iron will act as a sound dampener as water that is falling vertically is louder than water flowing horizontally.

Downstairs Plumbing

More plumbing work done today by Jake.  Here he is connecting the upstairs drains.

In the laundry room he has installed the water lines for the washing machine.

The above photo is the drain for the laundry tub.

Above photo is taken from the old pantry, the other side of the laundry room.

This above photo is the drain for the pedestal sink in the downstairs bathroom and the below photo is the kitchen wall side, showing where the toilet is set.

I love to see progress!

Plumbing!

Here is the upstairs bathroom which was Thurston's room.  We'll call it the second bathroom for now.  Anyway, where the ladder is standing is where the toilet will be set, as you can see on the below photo, the white round cover is the flange.

Below is the vent pipe for the toilet.

Below is the first upstairs bath, formerly the wood room. We have Jake getting ready to drill for the toilet flange.

And here it the venting, right to left, for the shower, toilet, and sink.

In the kitchen, a bit of demo for the drains coming from the first upstairs bathroom.

Here Jake is setting the drain for the shower/tub in the second upstairs bathroom and to the right is for the sink and toilet drain.
Things are coming together!
